Nice idea ... in my case, I wasn't at home or in a position to turn the lights off!

I really love how people start raising awareness with Earth Hour. People say that there are some who turn like hypocrites with supporting Earth Hour while not living in accordance to what they are driving for. But I guess that for some, it is not about changing your life but more about raising awareness that might strike one or two to change their life.

Will do.
I imagine that when I look out onto my street tonight though, it will look exactly as it did the hour before.

Was in The Netherlands too , suprisingly easy to turn lights off for an hour, not alot to ask is it. The houses I could see from here looked in darkness, so either people were taking part or all away .

I do Earth hour every day. That probably sounds pompous but it is true!

Not at all, I hate lights on for the sake of it .
My personal little crusade is water, all the water I use from washing fruit and veg is used to water the garden.
The water I run to either heat or get cold (mixer taps I am afraid) goes in one of two jugs. One is to top up the kettle or pans for boiling food if I am not steaming, the other is for the fridge so we always have "cold" cold drinks.
All (except the very first) rinsing water from hand washing also goes on the garden.
Water metering makes you so much more aware of what you use and not just use it willy-nilly.

Yep, that's the one, just for an hour starting at 8.30pm (here) - luckily they aren't wanting us to turn the heating off .
