Exclamation I hacked the perpetual motion topic (no really)

hey hello,

We all understand how magnets work.

When a magnet is placed close to an iron object the iron object becomes magnetic.

Put 2 magnets on an iron object and it becomes an even stronger magnet.

Say we hold a magnetized chunk of iron above a magnet so that the chunk is repelled.

If we ignore sidewards motion we can rest it on top of the repelling field.

If we now bring another magnet close enough to the chunk we can obviously increase it's flux.

If we increase the magnetic flux the in the chunk it will also suffer more repulsion.

So all we have to do is bring another magnet closer to the construction and we can make the chunk levitate upwards.

This of course seems impossible.

But we take a magnet and approach the chunk from the top, the magnet inducts extra field in the chunk, the chunk is now attracted to the magnet.

Say we feel an attraction of 1 newton pulling between this magnet and the chunk.

We had established it would also be pushed away.

This pushing force can never translate back onto the magnet in our hand.

The magnet in our hand was suffering 1 newton, the strip was pulled upwards with 1 newton.

Here the extra pushing force slips though the bookkeeping.

I have designed this experiment for you to observe the effect.

Cost: +/- 3 €
time: +/- 20 sec

I like low budget.

But the question is.

What do do next?

here are some backup images 1, 2, 3, 4

Lightbulb Ingenious, however ?

Hi, this is my first day and I'm already intrigued !!

Magnetism is fascinating in its entirity, yet it has been around since earth began and we only have limited uses for it !

Here is a thought for you :- If the earth is basically a huge magnet, with a N & S pole, is there a way magnetism can be used to levitate transport and/or be used as a form propullsion ?
