Well as the New Year is almost upon us, I thought I would share some of my favourite photos I have taken this year.
As there is no "Forum Images or unidentified gallery" here, there are alot of mediocre or awful shots in gooseys images I would have never uploaded to the gallery in normal circumstances. So thought I would show off a few of th better ones!
They were all taken in the garden.

I was so pleased with this Silver Y. I know the light is reflecting of the wing but I like his face and the way the proboscis is working to get the nectar fron the lavender.

This bee is covered with pollen, probably my favourite photo of the year.

I think that the green of the Speckled Buch Cricket against the black of the night, is appealing. The silvery bands on the body look like metal.

This 7 spot is doing a good job, there weren't so many in the garden this year.

What images you have taken this year, are you most proud of?

I wouldn't say "proud of" (I'm not a photographer, just an ecologist with a camera) but some I found amusing.

I always find these Orgyria (vapourer) larvae very strange - nothing like your 'standard' caterpillar! Lots around in Derbyshire this year so I thought I'd photograph one just to show that I do look at things other than beetles

This is more about the things you miss ... one way or another. Didn't do very well with the flowers on our Basque trip: good pictures but mostly useless for id - I wouldn't expect it for a yellow composite so just took this picture for the happy colouring - only later noticed the bug on it!

An interesting view from inside a cavern at Zugarramurdi in the Basque Country. Set in very nice Pyrenean woodland, the cave has been used by humans in various ways for thousands of years. On this day when there were thunderstorms and massive downpours outside, you can really appreciate how welcome caves would have been to early people ...

Okay, one good, one bad - both relate to long walks down mountains:
this really evokes the gloom of a cloudy day on the Picos de Europa but didn't seem to worry the horses.

Now this was a good idea which didn't quite work out in practice - to take the train to Rhune (on the French side of the border) and walk down. Told that at le sommet there was a "vue splendide sur l'Espagne et la Cote Basque ...".
Shows how rapidly the weather can change in the Pyrenees ....

Goosey I like your Silver Y, was it in flight? It looks like it's floating! And Paul I like the Vapourer Moth caterpillar, I agree they're such strange looking things!

My best shots come from my holiday to the Camargue, there was so much around that I was spoilt for choice with photography subjects!
I was pleased to capture this Hummingbird Hawkmoth in flight, I was lucky to find a 'brave' moth which didn't mind me getting close to it.

I took loads of shots of Stripeless Tree Frogs, mostly because I was so excited at finding them, they were good photography subjects because they allowed you to get very close. This was probably my favourite shot.

And finally I like the colours and the way the birds lined themselves up in this flamingo shot.

Thanks Guy, it was just about to land. I am always pleased when I manage a moth in flight and am not left with just the night sky, usually its more luck than judgement
