I see Swallow has put up a picture of an Italian procession -

- with a very big bird.
When we were in the Basque country this year it was the time for celebrating Basque nationality, customs and their saint (I forget who it was). In Irun there was a mass procession of bands but also carts of people from various villages in local dress &c.. Getting this (vaguely) closer to wild life, all their carts were towed by oxen:

The Basques have some eccentric sports in adddition to ox racing (with attached tree) such as chopping a log in half while standing on it .... well, beats cricket, I suppose....
