When is a tree ........

....... not a tree?
For the second time only I went to the Vogelmeer area of the National Park Zuid Kennemerland today. Last time, and today I saw in the far distance what looked like a monkey puzzle tree, perhaps a giant pine, I was that busy looking it at it through binoculars I didn't actually take a photo of it , I will next time!
Anyway, when I got home I was looking in my book about the NP and saw a photo of it, when I read on I discovered the tree is not a tree but a huge mobile phone transmitter! (Even through the binoculars it still loooked like a tree.)

In this photo you can see it on the horizon in the left half of the picture.

When I was stood at the far end of the lake later on, on the top of sand dune I could see it better, but it was still miles away.
What a good way to disguise a structure which would have ruined the look of the whole area, it had me fooled!

Here we are - I was able to get this image today. What actually looks like bushes below the "giant tree" are in fact full grown trees.

At least they're making an effort to blend in with the landscape. A monkey-puzzle is a bit far-fetched: perhaps it was mean to be a pine?
I wish some (all) of the aerial towers around here were disguised - in town or country.

I was on the zuidpier (the longer and southerly of 2 long piers (3km), in the form of pincers off the shore of Ijmuiden, which all the shipping coming into Ijmuiden and then up the Noordzeekanaal pass. I had walked to the end and on my way back and noticed the telephone mast in the distance.
