Having noticed that several places I'm planning to visit in Portugal were World Heritage Sites, I decided to look up what this meant - a disproportionate number of them in Europe? World Heritage Centre - World Heritage List
Interested to see that over a hundred of the listed areas are of 'natural' rather than 'cultural' interest. Fifteen of seventeen in Australia!

I was reading the other day about a threatened petrol company (BP ) exploitation of an area between some world heritage sites in Canada and USA. The company is threatening to exploit the Flathead River floor. Not only is the river an unexploited, really wild part of America but it also joins up the reserves of the Canadian and US Rockies.
Does anybody know the area?
