tony d - Cuba images!
I have been looking at all the wonderfully colourful images tony d had posted into the gallery. I never realised Cuba was so colourful! Images I have seen, it was run down and all that wonderful colonial architecture neglected after so many years of trade embargo etc.
I will go and have another stroll through your memories, and thank you Tony for posting them .

Indeed, some very colourful shots.
What particularly impresses me are the ones from Soroa Orchid Garden -
Hundreds of orchid varieties. Difficult to imagine that number .... difficult to pick out your favourite as well!
I've always liked national plant collections and botanical gardens - you can learn so much botany by seeing organised collections. All you need to know in one place ....

From what I hear there has been a huge effort over the past 5-10 years to fix things up, and many nice old colonial buildings have already been restored meticously - with a few 'old state' ones remaining in-between so tourists can appreciate the efforts put into the restored ones

Sheffield had a Cuba Day last Saturday - the main identifying feature seemed to be rum in fifty-seven varieties ..... you have to do something with all that sugar-cane.
