UK Earthquake

It was a reasonable sized earthquake at 5.3. Just wondering if the ground shook for anyone. I certainly woke-up with the bed shaking and the Ecuadorian rainstick beside that bed making a right racket. My folks live only a few miles from the epicentre so they felt it quite strongly. A few people at work seemed to have slept right through. Any stories?

Hi Black
No interesting story from here I'm afraid, we're just a little bit too far away for anything drastic, but I was woken up with the sound of the wardrobe doors rattling. It was very windy here yesterday so I thought something must have fallen through the roof on top of the ceiling (and I'd check it in the morning if we were still alive! )
It wasn't till I heard about the earthquake this morning it dawned on me what it was.
So it reached as far as South Cumbria.
I can't imagine what it must be like living so close to the epicentre except that it must be pretty frightening. We are just not use to things like that happening are we. Quite exciting when all is well afterwards though!

I didn't feel it much - I was actually on my feet and moving at the time - but there was a very loud thump - I thought the wife had fallen out of bed or something!

I suppose this is a commonplace in some parts of the world.
