I’m very fond of birds and I want to have some at my place. My mom is not allowing me to have them in the house……she is saying that the birds can be the sources of bird flu virus. I’ve told her that we’ll have a good check-up of the birds before buying them. She is adamant on her decision. I have read on the net, http://www.drugdelivery.ca/bird-flu.aspx about bird flu and I don’t think that these birds can be a danger to us. I think my mom does not want to have the birds…..

Is avian flu a real problem in USA?
If the birds are captive bred - as one would hope - then there should be no problem. Reputable dealers should be able to demonstrate their standards of hygeine.

On the other hand, some parents might guess that they'll be left to do a lot of cleaning and tending......
