What level of birdwatcher are you?

Do just know the name of every species in your area, travel hundreds of miles to find an elusive bird, regularly go birdwatching to find, identify, photograph and record species? Maybe you just feed the birds in your back garden and can only really identify a few different species. What level of birdwatcher are you?

Complete beginner.

I love to photograph them wherever I can find them. In the garden and all my walks in the countryside.I recognise the most common birds (well some of them) and rely on books and websites such as WAB to identify them.I really want to photograph a Jay but although I have seen them I have never yet managed it

I usually have my head down looking at plants and insects. Do the BTO garden bird counts - one of the most valuable scientific studies in the world. Can do most straightforward birds *but* warblers ....... one problem is that I'm tone deaf, really!

Like Paul I spend most of my time looking for insects, just see and hear birds in passing.

Well, I do notice large flocks of things. Particularly in towns - has stimulated my interest in why some cities (across Europe) have different 'common' birds.

I suppose I could photograph some birds in the winter - has never really occcurred to me (this will sound strange to many birdy people ). Should be a good year for jays with all the acorns around.

what level

The highest possible level, thats the level im at ...in fact im looking down on and waving to david attenborough and bill oddie on their level way down below me,i can just about see their little faces .....

I just enjoy all nature, but i started out with birds.
Im like that saying 'jack of all trades but master of none',in that i photograph and enjoy all aspects of nature, but often shoot first and ask questions later, when i get home and look at my pictures, often doing many google searches to try and figure out what it is that ive photographed or seen.

I dont think id go out birding if it wasnt highly enjoyable for me,and the learning process is all part of it.

cheers
