A Lifer - Brown-winged Kingfisher

Just came back from a week vacation - exploring the whole main island of Langkawi. I think I drove for a little short of 700km in that 7 days. It wasn't really a full birding trip but I do get some tips from local guides / birders on the whereabouts for a few species. On top of my list is actually the brown-winged kingfisher which I have been looking forward to see for the past years. I went to one of the jettys for mangrove tours and there it was perching on the wire right above the river.

That's where they have the big bike race?

Splendid looking bird - I see the brown wings but would have though the beak was pretty distinctive! Must catch some pretty big fish with that?

Great picture, I bet you're pleased ....

What a spectacular bird and it's good that you managed to get a shot of it.
