Bathing birds
We have had temperatures below freezing in the garden since 26th December, the coldest day time temperature being -7.5°C. During this time I have had to change the bird water many time a day. All the birds seem to appreciate it standing side by side to drink, but what surprises me is the fact they are still bathing. Obviously they need to stay groomed to keep waterproof and warm and get rid of mites etc - clever though how they don't start to physically freeze .

-7.5?!!! I guess it's to do with the fact that feathers are basically waterproof?

We have had a very cool spring and summer here in Wisconsin, U.S.A. The temperatures in July are more like late spring than mid-summer. Usually, the weather is fairly hot and humid during the second half of July. We haven't had any really hot and humid days so far this year. I hope this kind of weather holds on through August. The birds and other wildlife seem to like the cool temperatures.
