I think it's a White-bellied Stork, certainly looks like a very interesting bird, did you see many of these while you were there?

just googled it thank you looks like you are spot on
Not sure how many I saw. This one was in the Ngorongoro crater.
I'll probably be back for more IDs as our guide was not too hot on birds!

one is iffy, the second, the female is definitely not !!!

What was he hot on

[ Incidentally bubbles I can't find that thread on WAB any more?
What's happened to it? ]

Taken off cause it broke site rules!
At least the link is still in the signature!
The other ID's are probably my fault as my memory plays tricks!
Tell me which ones and I'll correct them.
I get confused as to which ones are impalas, gazelles etc. Probably didn't pay enough attention!!!

I guess it did break site rules but it was interesting never the less!

Your first male impala doesn't look right. Horns too splayed, heavy in
the rear and I think some white on the rump. I've not been to Kenya
for, well 40 years, but could it be a grant's? Not sure if they are
found where you were.

Your second impala, female is definitely NOT an Impala. In southern
Africa I would say Springbok (I have daughter there and visit often)
but I don't think they go that far North - Is it a Thompson's?

I know what you mean about the different antelope - its like birds
really you have to see them in the flesh to get instant Ids, but then
shadows, herds and behaviour can still confuse.

And then there are the different races, e.g. back-faced impala.

Some lovely, lovely photos though!

Thanks for the help I will edit the tittles etc accordingly. Please feel free to check up on it anytime as I still have loads of photos to do and no doubt I'll get some of the IDs wrong! My aim is to eventually get every creature that I photographed there ID-ed.
You any good on birds? / butterflies?
There are a couple already there which I haven't a clue about!

1. No idea

2. Weaver - not one that is in the Southern Africa books, so can't help.

3. Common Fiscal (prev. "Fiscal Shrike") I think - this is easily confused with Fiscal Flycatcher but that has white on the tail and some other difference in the white colouring on the back; but I'm uncomfortable with the white rump; I think you need an expert
