Super moon

Thanks Doserea for the link you gave on the "What's your weather like thread" .
Super Full Moon - NASA Science

This was the moon at 8.16pm. I took the picture from the balcony as I couldn't see it from the garden over the other house's.
I used 20x zoom, no tripod and cropped the image. Not as detailed as people get with more powerful camera or what astronomers take who know what they are doing but I am really pleased with it .

Climbed a small hill in the fading light with deep snow and uneven ground underneath. Set up camera, sat on an exposed rock for 45 minutes and watched a cloudy sky. The only think I got was a wet b*m!

Woke on the sofa at 1 o'clock and went to bed - but not before seeing the bright moon with misty rings around it. I hope it will be similar for a few nights

But just look at the detail and it looks more imposing not being full - a super-duper image

I just heard on the British news (not that I am Britain but haven't heard it mentioned on the Dutch news) that it won't be seen south of the Shetlands so I don't think I will get to see it after all being this far South.

I did see the moon at 5.15pm (or should I say had glimpses of it) it was very low in the sky but clouds passing over it and a very windy so I couldn't get a decent piccie. It didn't look particularly large to me so I guess I was either too late I should have looked when it got dark at 4.45ish or it just wasn't visible from here.
