Longest annular solar eclipse of the millennium at Kanyakumari (India)
Hi ,Sorry for not being in touch with you all for long time,
On Jan 15, people living in the southern tip Kanyakumari (India) viewed the 'Ring of Fire' when the moon will cover the sun's disc during the millennium's longest annular solar eclipse.
Last time India saw this 'Ring of Fire' was Nov 22, 1965, and it will not be witnessed again before June 21, 2020.
The maximum duration of the eclipse would be 11 minutes 08 seconds over the Indian Ocean, thus making it the longest annular eclipse of the millennium.
I am posting some photographs of our trip at Kanyakumari .

Hello Suhas, lovely to see you again and those magnificent images of the eclipse!
Did you go to Kanyakumari specifically to see the eclipse?
Thanks for posting the images-it is fantastic to be able to see what we have missed!

Yes, good to see you back - have missed your excellent pictures.
Did you use any special equipment to photograph the eclipe - your pictures are very clear.
Thanks for the explanation about Thiruvalluvar - a very impressive memorial.

Hi Suhas
What amazing photos you've taken of such a rare event. It must have been quite something to have actually been there. I can only imagine what the atmosphere would have been like, it doesn't happen very often in the UK and certainly not on that scale where I am.
Wonderful shots, thanks for sharing them with us.
Suzanne

Yes, a very impressive series of shots. And a great location to view te eclipse from. I particularly like the one with the clouds passing in front of the sun. What size lens did you use?
