Flying reptiles
A new fossil species found in Brazil - unusually since most have been found in China. This isn't all that big but it seems to have a relatively large mouth. The reconstruction looks as if it would be impossible to get lift-off!

I suppose that flying reptiles are birds?
Now, what about flying amphibians ...... or, at least, a levitating one:

Not exactly a flying reptile, more a floating one .....

Thanks for your post. Intriguing to find this in Brazil as most were found in China.

This suggests that there were (at least) two evolutionary lines leading to flight in dinosaurs: strange looking beast ....

How did they take off?
How did the pterosaurs become airborne? By vaulting from all four limbs, perhaps?

There's all sorts of interesting things about this snippet but what strikes me is how like birds these pterosaurs were. Not unexpectedly but
