Talking Green Anole Lizard

One of the most common floridian animals, the Green Anole Lizard is often seen in gardens and houses in search of insects and small vertabrates. Famed for their ability to change color, they are often misidentified as chamelions. In fact, they are more closely related to Central and South America's iguanas. Males are often territorial, mantaining a space of anything from 6 to 10 square feet. During courtship displays and small battles over territory, males display a rather large red dewflap in order to appear larger.
These little wonders are extremely good at coexisting with people, and their only threat is the invasive Cuban Brown Anole, which is unable to turn green but can become different patterns and shades of brown and black.

Another interesting post and photo's. Have the Cuban Brown Anole's been introduced on purpose or by accident to the US? What sort of threat does it pose to the native species?
It is something you see all too frequently here in Europe, species moving into new areas because of climate change, or people have imported animals in the past for pets or private collections and now they are in the wild taking over native species natural habitats or carrying virus's which kill the natives. It is so sad when they can't co-exist and anmals are being wiped out. Actually it happens with plants aswell

.

The Brown Anoles were introduced by mistake. Although they don't pose a huge threat to their green cousin, they have outcompeted them in some regions.

The photos I used here so far have been from free picture websites as I have been using someone else's computer recently...
