The Pine Woods Snake is a BEUTIFUL snake native to North an Central Florida. As its name implies, it is fond of pine flats and other shady areas, such as shrubbery and mulched gardens in cities. A fairly small snake, it usually only reaches lengths of about 6-8 inches. Lacking the neccessary glands, it is neither an aggressive nor venomous snake, although its saliva is mildly toxic to the small insects that it preys upon.
Here's a video of one I found in a garden in Orlando.
