Australia is fantastic. Don't be put off by us having the no1 and n2 most venomous snakes in the world, the red back and funnel web spiders, the blue bottles, sea jellies and the like.
I was reading an article at work on Saturday morning in the Sydney Morning Herald and they said horses were the most dangerous animals, but were sharks in fourth spot!
I will try and find a link to that. Here 'tis
Now death by horse is par for the course - National - smh.com.au
On that note, I regularly have red backs around my house, the more dangerous white-tailed spider, enormous huntsmen spiders and quite large wolf spiders. Never been bitten (yet) and I get rather close at times. ;D
As long as you are aware of the potential dangers and know some basic first aid (just in case) Australia is no more dangerous than anywhere else in the world despite our reputation for having a ton of nasties.
To be honest you will have more opportunities to drown in our surf or in our waterways than from a fatal animal attack. The waves are what is arguably far more dangerous especially around urban areas where a lot of population proliferate sea shores.
ENJOY OZ, it is awesome!!
