The top photo is of a Great Grey Shrike, a European bird, we occasionally get them in the UK. It swoops down on prey from a high vantage point taking insects and sometimes small lizards or mammals. I believe they have the nickname Butcher Bird because they then impale their prey on something sharp, be it a thorn or barbed wire.
The second photo is of a White-helmet Shrike. I've seen them in Africa and they hop along the ground + under bushes in noisy feeding parties. I believe they co-operate when rearing young with members of the group as well as the parents bringing food.
