American Alligator

Gators are INCREDIBLE crocodilians , and though once severely imperiled, have made a huge comeback and are now a very common species anywhere there is a river system from the Everglades in Florida all the way past Louisiana. Like their other native North American relative, the American Crocodile, they are considerably less aggressive than their counterparts on other continents, only becoming agressive when feeding and when protecting their nests. They are, I believe, good mothers, watching after their young and protecting them from predators including but not limited to cannabalistic males.
