This is Racquel and her twins Otis and Milo. Racquel is blind from what is thought to be a bird strike, so is the father of the twins. The twins were the result of a Queensland University IVF program. The family live in the safety of the University grounds where they will spend their days
The Word 'Koala' means :- does not drink, and Koalas seldom do. It is wrong to refer to them as 'Koala Bears' because they are not related to any species of bear, but are of course marsupial. Unfortunately, their numbers are declining as a result of land development, dogs and highways. Koalas only eat certain species of Eucalypts. Some councils have now forbidden dogs to be kept in certain areas and safe crossing areas are made in highways. Koalas are not very mobile except in the breeding season when the males will go courting. It is thought that even though they are protected etc that Koalas will disappear from the S.E. corner of Queensland within 50 years
