There is a pm-ing facility but its rather difficult find and see if anyone has pm-ed you back. It also appears you have to have images in the gallery to be able to do it.
If you click on "members gallery" then click on the person you want to pm there is a "send message " option. Luckily I could e-mail Suzanne B (she is my sister, I don't see her often, so its nice to bump into her here
) to tell her to check other wise she could have been oblivious for ever. She was able to reply to me via the reply button.
To read any pm's you have to click on " members gallery" and it says that you have "so" many messages, click on this to access your messages. These are usually replies to images you have uploaded and someone has kindly commented on, the PM messages are in there!
It is all very confusing - there must be a simpler method, I just haven't found
