Oh, yes, one of the reasons I like travelling by train across Europe is because you see the changes in terrain and environment - you feel the difference as nature changes! I'm not too sure if one will feel the same difference going east-west (or, indeed, west-east) across Siberia ... big decision is what book(s) to take with you for a seven-day train journey! 'War and Peace' must be amongst them ...

No hurry to decide but I'm edging to Japan - get a boat ride to add on to the train journey! Or perhaps make it a 12-month trip and "do" the whole lot?
