When we left Berlin on Saturday the thaw seemed to have set in and most of the street paths were clear - same over most of lowland NW Europe .... until we arrived in Sheffield where there was a thick carpet of wet snow! Watching the football on TV on Sunday night I see that there had been some seriously thick snowstorms .....
